Hello there! We’re the Professional Driving School Association of Washington State!

Our Mission:

To build a robust driver training industry association by uniting for:

  • Elevated training standards

  • Reducing losses from auto-related crashes

  • Ensuring appropriate state regulations for driver training schools

  • Expanding growth opportunities for our businesses

Attention WA Driving Schools,

Attention WA Driving Schools,

Over the past few years, the PDSA has made significant strides, especially in keeping our businesses running during the pandemic. While many businesses like restaurants and barbershops were forced to close, driving schools remained open thanks to our board representative's tireless efforts with the DOL and the governor’s office to secure our classification as an essential business. Even before this designation, we successfully worked with the DOL to implement live online classes immediately following the executive order to halt operations. Together, we developed and shared a comprehensive plan that supported the entire industry.

Beyond guiding us through the pandemic in collaboration with the DOL and government leadership, PDSA continues to work closely with the DOL on several upcoming initiatives that will impact our industry. To effectively engage with the DOL and our legislature on these crucial issues, we need a strong industry association that represents all of Washington State’s citizens.

Our industry currently faces a significant challenge from organizations like AAA, I Drive Safely, and Driversed.com, which are lobbying to enter the WA state market. These companies charge as little as $25 for their online classes in other states. Additionally, Governor Inslee has shown a preference for alternatives that align with his agenda, potentially impacting our industry and the jobs it supports.

We need your support to continue our progress with the DOL and legislature. An annual membership costs $100 per person, and all proceeds are dedicated to improving and sustaining the driving school industry. These funds are essential to ensuring that our voices are heard and our industry is prepared for the future.

Let’s continue to stand united to ensure we have the opportunity to evolve and set up our industry for long-term success.

Monthly meetings

The Professional Driving Schools Association (PDSA) holds its meetings once a month, typically around the fourth Wednesday. At the end of each session, the date and time for the next meeting are decided, and email reminders are sent to all members to ensure everyone stays informed.

Our meetings are guided by the PDSA Code of Conduct, which establishes our governing principles and sets clear expectations to maintain a professional and collaborative environment.

The next PDSA meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Please mark your calendars!
